When it comes to full-size, light-duty pickups, two contenders stand out from the pack. The 2020 Ram 1500 and 2020 Ford F-150 are set in stone as two of the best pickup trucks and for good reasons. Both contenders have high-powered engines, plenty of tech advancements as well as comfort features. Unfortunately, only one pickup will come out on top.

Capability & Performance

The Ram 1500 will offer a variety of powertrains to meet your needs. There are two versions of the brand's 5.7-Liter HEMI. This V8 will generate up to 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Up to 12,750 pounds can be towed. The 3.6-Liter V6 comes from PENTASTAR, and it generates 305 horsepower while towing as much as 7,730 pounds. The available 3.0-liter eco-diesel engine will tow up to 12,560 pounds at 480 pound-feet of torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission produces smooth shifts, and the truck's frame is built from high-strength steel.

The Ford F-150 offers six different powertrains. To name a few, there are two versions of the brand's 3.5-Liter engine, and one of the engines is high output. The 2.7-Liter turbocharged engine generates 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. There's a 5.0-Liter TI-VCT V8 that generates 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Ford offers six and 10-speed automatic transmissions. This truck also offers selectable drive modes.

The Ram 1500 offers a luxurious cabin that's filled with cutting-edge technologies. Active Noise Cancellation provides for a more serene cabin experience. Smartphone integration is built-in, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There's a huge 12.0-inch touchscreen display as well as smart-charge USB ports. The Ram 1500 comes equipped with LED projector headlamps, a huge grille and leather seats.

The Ford F-150 also has a huge grille, and its interior can seat six people. Consumers can choose from numerous trims, including the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and others. The truck's cabin is spacious, but it lacks the overall craftsmanship of the Ram 1500. The in-vehicle touchscreen display is much smaller, but it gets the job done. There's also Android Auto, navigation and Apple CarPlay technologies.

The Ram 1500 overpowers its competitor in advancements and interior components, but the F-150 was still a great contender.
